Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

These Terms of Service apply to software, websites, hosted services, and other services operated as part of the ZFordDev ecosystem.

Individual projects may provide additional terms where their specific functionality requires them. Where project-specific terms conflict with these general terms, the project-specific terms will apply to that service.

Use of ZFordDev Software

ZFordDev software is provided for lawful use.

You are responsible for using the software in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and for respecting the rights of other people and organisations.

You must not use ZFordDev services to:

Open Source Software

Where a ZFordDev project is released under an open-source licence, that licence governs your rights to use, modify, copy, and redistribute the relevant software.

For example, software released under the MIT License remains subject to the terms of that licence.

These Terms of Service do not replace or restrict rights granted by an applicable open-source licence.

Self-Hosted Software

Some ZFordDev projects are designed to be self-hosted.

When you operate software on your own infrastructure, you are responsible for that deployment, including:

ZFordDev is not responsible for problems caused by the configuration or operation of independently managed infrastructure.

Hosted Services

Some projects may also be offered as managed or hosted services.

Hosted services may require accounts, subscriptions, payments, or other service-specific requirements.

The exact features and limitations of a hosted service will be described by that service.

Hosted services may be changed, updated, suspended, or discontinued when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, infrastructure, or continued development.

Subscriptions and Payments

Where a ZFordDev service requires payment, the applicable pricing and billing conditions will be presented before purchase.

Subscriptions provide access to the relevant hosted service or convenience features for the applicable subscription period.

Unless a service explicitly states otherwise, paying for a hosted service does not transfer ownership of the underlying software or intellectual property.

Where the underlying project is open source, its open-source licence continues to apply independently of the hosted service.

User Content

You retain ownership of content you create and submit to ZFordDev services, subject to any licences or permissions you explicitly grant to the service.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to upload, publish, or distribute content through a ZFordDev service.

ZFordDev does not claim ownership of your documents merely because you use a hosted service to store or publish them.

Availability and Changes

Software and services are developed continuously.

Features may change, be improved, replaced, or removed as projects evolve.

Open-source projects may continue to develop independently of hosted services.

Hosted services may also experience downtime due to maintenance, infrastructure failures, third-party outages, or circumstances outside reasonable control.

No Warranty

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, ZFordDev software and services are provided “as is” and “as available.”

While reasonable effort is made to produce reliable software and services, no guarantee is made that software will be completely error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for every particular use.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important data.

ZFordDev is not responsible for data loss caused by hardware failure, software failure, user error, incorrect configuration, unsupported modifications, or failures of independently operated infrastructure.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated as the ZFordDev ecosystem develops.

Material changes to the terms governing an existing hosted service will be communicated through appropriate service channels where reasonably possible.

Continued use of a service after an applicable change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms, subject to applicable law.

Responsible Use

ZFordDev exists to build useful software and infrastructure.

The ecosystem is intended to remain accessible, transparent, and practical for both individual users and organisations.

Use of ZFordDev software and services should reflect that principle.

Build with it. Modify it. Host it yourself. Or use the hosted service for convenience — but use it responsibly.
