SnapDock‑Web is a lightweight, browser‑friendly preview of SnapDock 2.
It recreates the core writing experience, but it is not a full replacement for the desktop app.
Some features are simplified or unavailable due to browser limitations.

If you encounter errors or missing functionality, the SnapDock 2 desktop app will always provide the most stable and complete experience.

Core Features

Writing & Editing

  • Markdown editing
  • Live preview
  • Clean editor layout
  • Basic tab support (limited compared to desktop)

File Management

  • Upload single files
  • Upload folders (virtual file tree)
  • No persistent workspaces
  • No recent files list
  • No auto‑loading on startup

Themes & Appearance

  • Light
  • Dark
  • Solarized
  • Arctic
  • Forest
  • Theme selector included

Exporting & Sharing

  • File download (Markdown)
  • PDF export not available in Web Edition
  • Printing depends on browser support

Settings & Preferences

  • Basic editor options
  • Theme selection
  • Preview behavior
  • No advanced performance settings

Limitations of the Web Edition

SnapDock‑Web is designed as a preview, not a full application.
The following features are intentionally unavailable:

  • Workspaces
  • Recent files
  • PDF export
  • Auto‑save
  • File watchers
  • System‑level file access
  • SnapDock‑Pro features
  • Collaboration tools
  • Shared workspaces

These require native filesystem access and background processes that browsers cannot provide.

Stability & Beta Notes

SnapDock‑Web is still in active development.
While it aims to mimic SnapDock 2, the browser environment introduces limitations:

  • Large folders may load slowly
  • Some Markdown features may behave differently
  • Browser security restrictions may block certain actions
  • Unexpected errors can occur depending on the browser

For the most stable experience, use the SnapDock 2 desktop app, which is fully tested and long‑term supported.

Support

If something feels broken or incomplete, it’s likely a limitation of the Web Edition.
For full functionality, download the desktop version of SnapDock.

Interested in contributing?

The SnapDock ecosystem is growing, and a lot of the foundation is being built right now. If you’re a developer or writer who wants to get involved early, there’s room to help shape how these tools evolve.

The ecosystem is looking for:

  • Phone app developers
  • Documentation writers
  • JavaScript developers
  • Rust developers (shh… that part’s still under wraps)
  • Product testers across Windows, macOS, and Linux

If that sounds like you, reach out and get involved at the ground level.
