SnapDock — Themes & Appearance

← Back to SnapDock Index

Introduction

SnapDock includes several built-in themes that change both the editor and the preview. This section explains how to switch themes, what parts of the interface can be customized, and introduces our new Forest theme.

Available Themes

SnapDock includes the following themes:

  • Light — clean, bright, and minimal
  • Dark — comfortable for low-light writing
  • Solarized — softer contrast with warm tones
  • Arctic — cool, modern, and easy on the eyes
  • Forest — a dark green theme designed to provide a natural and calming environment

Each theme updates the editor, preview, and UI chrome for a consistent experience.

Theme Selector

You can switch themes at any time using the Theme Selector in the bottom-right corner of the window:

  • Click the current theme name
  • Choose a new theme from the drop-down menu
  • The editor and preview update instantly

Themes are saved automatically and persist between sessions.

Customization Options

SnapDock keeps customization simple and predictable. Here’s what you can and cannot customize:

What You Can Customize

  • Resize the file tree by dragging its right edge
  • Switch between the five built-in themes
  • Adjust window size and layout spacing naturally

What You Cannot Customize (Yet)

  • Upload custom themes
  • Change fonts
  • Modify UI colors
  • Rearrange interface panels
  • Apply custom CSS

These limitations are intentional for SnapDock 2.x, keeping the app stable and lightweight.

Future Customization (SnapDock 3.0)

More advanced appearance options — including uploading custom styles — are planned for SnapDock 3.0. These features are not available in the current LTS version.
